Video: Mercedes-Benz C300 AMG Line vs BMW 330i M Sport drag race on KLIA runway

Following last week’s video, we’re back with yet another episode from our KLIA Runway drag race series and this is one you do not want to miss.

For decades, Mercedes-Benz and BMW have been neck and neck in the premium car segment and the rivalry can’t be more apparent than the one between the 3 Series and the C-Class.

The video may not determine which is ultimately the best overall premium compact sedan but at least settle the score on one aspect. To some perhaps, an important score with lots of bragging rights involved.

The C300 AMG Line starts from RM293k; a tad more than the 330i M Sport at RM288k. Looks-wise, there’s plenty to separate the two. While the Mercedes-Benz exudes elegance and class, the 3 Series is just in your face, with plenty of aggression.

Both are powered by 2.0-litre turbocharged engines paired with automatic gearboxes. Coincidentally, both the C300 and 330i produce 258 hp but the 330i is more superior with torque output; at 400 Nm compared to the C300’s 370 Nm.

On paper, only 0.1 second separates the two from 0 to 100 km/h, with the C300 clocking 5.9 seconds and the 330i 5.8 seconds. How does that translate on track? Who will get to look at the other and smirk? Hit play!
