Honda Accord updated in Thailand with Honda Sensing across all variants

The Honda Accord has just been refreshed over in Thailand, two and a half years since its local debut in the country, with a major update to its equipment list. Specifically, all three variants of the 10th-generation Honda Accord in Thailand will now come equipped with the Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver assistance features.

The Honda Sensing suite works via a combination of radar and front-facing camera, and includes features such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane keeping assist, road and lane departure mitigation system, as well as auto high-beam, standard across all variants.

The range-topping e:HEV Tech variant meanwhile adds on rear cross-traffic monitoring system, 360-degree surround view camera, and the Honda Smart Parking Assist System, with support for both parallel and reverse parking.

Other updates to the 2021 Honda Accord in Thailand include the new global e:HEV branding on both of the hybrid variants, replacing the previous i-MMD nameplate. However, the actual oily bits remain unchanged from last year.

The entry-level EL variant is powered by a 1.5 litre turbocharged engine, the same unit as the one in our Malaysian Accord, although with a lower power out put at 190 hp and 243 Nm of torque. The four-banger mill is paired to a CVT gearbox delivering drive to the front wheels.

The two higher-end variants – the e:HEV EL+ and e:HEV Tech – meanwhile get a hybrid drivetrain consisting of a 2.0-litre inline-four engine, and a pair of electric motors for an overall output of 215 hp.

The system works similarly to the i-MMD system that’s found on the Honda City RS here in Malaysia, where the car is mostly powered by the electric drive motor. The engine only drives the wheels during high-speed cruising, where a lock-up clutch links the two parts together to enhance efficiency.

Aside than these changes, the new Honda Accord is essentially identical to the outgoing models; despite being updated for the 2021 model year, the Honda Accord in Thailand still wears the same exterior as the previous model, instead of the facelifted Accord that was introduced in the United States late last year (with a slightly reworked front fascia).

The 2021 Honda Accord in Thailand is priced starting at 1.5 milion Baht (~RM191k) for the entry level EL variant, jumping up to 1.8 million Baht (~RM229k) for the range-topping e:HEV Tech – unchanged from before.
