At long last, Honda Malaysia has finally introduced the all-new Honda Accord to the local market with two variants available – RM185,900 for the 1.5 TC and RM195,900 for the TC-P model.

Both models are powered by the same 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, with 201 hp and 260 Nm of torque, that’s said to be more powerful than the previous 2.4-litre naturally-aspirated engine with 175 hp and 225 Nm.

The powertrain also includes a CVT gearbox – shift away from the 5-speed automatic from before. Fuel consumption rated at 6.3L/100km.

On the outside, aside from featuring an all-new shell with a lower roofline and longer front hood, automatic LED headlights and tail lights are standard across the board, along with LED front fog lights.

The new Accord’s wheelbase has also been increased by 55mm, offering an additional 48mm of leg room inside the cabin. Boot space is now rated at 570-litres, 120-litres more from before.

Aside from offering more space, refinement has also been a priority in the new Accord. Spray foam has been used for better sound insulation within the cabin while the use of High-Performance Adhesive on the body not only reduces cabin noise and vibration but also increases the rigidity of the body structure for improved handling.

New creature comforts in the Accord include an electronic parking brake, 4-way Assistant Power Seat with Shoulder Switch, wireless charging, driver seat memory, Driver Attention Monitor, Walk Away Auto Lock as well as Remote Engine Start.

Elsewhere standard equipment includes cruise control, paddle shifters, 8-way powered driver seats with lumbar support, automatic wipers, rear side window sunshade, 8-inch touchscreen display with 10 speakers and a subwoofer, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and two USB ports with another two at the rear.

Safety wise, the new Accord with 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating comes with six airbags, four sensors each in the front and back, Honda LaneWatch Camera, Emergency Stop Signal and Hill-Start Assist.

Exclusive to the TC-P model are features such as the 360-degree camera, Tyre Deflation Warning System, Cross Traffic Monitor, Smart Parking Assist, and Honda Sensing which now includes the Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow and Auto High Beam.

They add on to the Collision Mitigation Braking System, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist System, Lane Departure Warning and Road Departure Mitigation.

The new Accord is available in four colours – the new Platinum Pearl White, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, and Crystal Black Pearl.

Regularly spend countless hours online looking at cars and parts I can't afford to buy. How a car makes you feel behind the wheel should be more important than the brand it represents - unless resale value is your thing.
