MINI Malaysia would probably thrown a big party today if it weren’t for Covid-19 and the nonsensical lockdowns imposed, to no avail. Aside from the launch of the facelift MINI JCW 3 Door, MINI Malaysia also introduced the Countryman version of the MINI John Cooper Works.
Performance wise, the numbers remain unchanged from before. You still get 306 hp and 450 Nm from a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. You get all-wheel drive and an 8-speed gearbox in between. 0 to 100 km/h is still 5.1 seconds.
There’s more to look forward to when it comes to aesthetics. Unlike the 3 Door JCW, the Countryman received more subtle updates in the grille and headlamp department.
At the rear, the Countryman is (finally) fitted with taillights featuring the Union Jack flag. The diffuser section has also undergone a minor redesign.
What ties all the new details up are black surrounds applied generously around the exterior. You get glossy black finishing around the head and tail lamps, black Countryman lettering and plenty more black everywhere for a more sinister image.
Other standard items include 4-pot Brembo brakes in the front, adaptive suspension and adaptive headlights. The JCW comes in Rebel Green, Midnight Black and White Silver, paired to a red roof.

Inside, the changes are similar to the 3 Door JCW. There’s a new 5-inch fully digital display, an updated infotainment system and a new Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel in the most spacious cabin of the entire MINI range.
Like the 3 Door version, the JCW Countryman also gets all the good stuff like a head-up display, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and a panoramic sunroof for more natural light. As for driver assistance and safety, there’s six airbags, Driver Assistant Package with autonomous braking and lane keeping assist.
For all that, the JCW Countryman will cost you RM375,493 including a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty. With the 5-year package, you’re looking at RM383,463. Check it out on MINI’s official site here!
