Watch the new Honda Civic sedan vs the Mazda 3 & Toyota Corolla in a drag race!

Let’s just address the elephant in the room and call it out as it is, drag races are for the simple-minded; for the lack of a better term.

Especially when it concerns C-segment vehicles like the Toyota Corolla Altis, the Honda Civic and the Mazda 3, a drag race as a buying guide is as useful as an umbrella in a typhoon but we watch it anyways.

Find out everything you need to know about the all-new 11th generation Honda Civic here!

Because when it comes to C-segment cars in Malaysia, cars most people buy as a symbol of “I’ve made some dough and I’m now comfortable”, it leaves for plenty of conversation and of course, bragging rights.

The drag race consists of two runs, one from a complete stop, along with another at a rolling start.

Don’t you think the rear section of the all-new Honda Civic hatchback, looks like the Kia Stinger?

The Corolla you see in the video gets 169 hp and 205 Nm from a larger 2.0-litre engine while the local model only makes 139 hp and 172 Nm from the 2ZR-FE 1.8-litre engine.

In the Mazda 3, there’s 186 hp and 252 Nm to play with, while the all-new Honda Civic, is rated at 180 hp and 240 Nm. The arrival of the new Civic means all three of the main players in the C-segment are now on the same level playing field.

While the Corolla in Malaysia has been supremely effortless and fluid to drive, coupled by a really good chassis and cabin refinement, the Mazda 3 is all about agility, sharpness, and driving engagement.

What will the Civic be like? We can’t wait to find out. As for this race, which would you put your money on? The results may surprise you.
