JPJ offering 70% discount on compoundable summonses, April 13 to June 13

In conjunction with the Road Transport Department’s (JPJ) 75-year anniversary, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong announced that the JPJ will be offering a 70% discount on compoundable summonses (i.e. not those that have been moved to a court hearing).

“The discount offer will be valid for two months starting April 13 till June 13,” he told reporters at JPJ’s 75th anniversary celebrations yesterday, noting that the discount would benefit motorists who have been blacklisted by the department due to unsettled summonses.

“For example, with the discount, a motorist will only have to pay RM45 to settle a RM150 summons. This will allow the individual’s name to taken off the JPJ blacklist,” he said. Drivers who have been blacklisted by JPJ will not be able to renew their road tax or driving licences.

According to the department’s Facebook post, the discount will be valid for summonses issued under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board Act 1987 (Act 334), and Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715), inclusive of those already blacklisted, as mentioned above.

The discount is also offered to summonses that are still active and their compound period still valid, provided that the summons is paid within the aforementioned offer period.

Payment of JPJ summonses can be made at any JPJ offices or branches, as well as at any UTC, JPJ kiosks, or via the JPJ online portal online.

Similarly, the Malaysia Royal Police (PDRM) is also currently offering a 50% discount on summonses, paid through its new MyBayar Saman web portal and mobile app. The offer is valid until April 15, this Thursday.
