The finalists for the 2021 World Car of the Year award (WCOTY) awards has just been announced, with the final selection narrowed down from 24 cars initially, to now only 10 in contention for the overall award. Additionally, five cars have also been selected for each sub-category – of which there are four this year, including the World Car Design of the Year.
Judged by a panel of 93 international automotive journalists, the WCOTY finalists were selected via a secret ballot, based on their individual evaluation of each eligible vehicle conducted throughout the year as part of their own professional work.
As for the 2021 World Car Design of the Year, all cars competing in any of the other categories will be eligible for this award. The five finalists were selected as “short-list recommendations” by a panel of seven respected design experts, which will then be voted by the 93 jurors.
After the final tabulation of votes, which will be conducted by accountancy firm KPMG, the top three contenders in all categories will be then announced on the 30th of March, followed by the announcement of the 2021 WCOTY winners on April 30 – where the winner of the overall WCOTY award will succeed the Kia Telluride.
So without further ado, here are the finalists of the 2021 WCOTY awards, including the sub categories and their five finalists – all in alphabetical order. Do you agree with the WCOTY finalists? Let us know in the comments below!
