Petronas has unveiled its latest fuel, the Primax 97 with Pro-Race, through a Facebook live-stream event yesterday. Dubbed as its “best fuel ever”, the new Euro 4M RON 97 formulation is now available at Petronas petrol stations nationwide, at RM2.08 per litre based on the current weekly-updated fuel-prices.
The new RON 97 fuel is said to be formulated to meet the demands of newer engine technologies. Key to the new fuel’s enhancement is the new additive package, which includes what Petronas says is the world’s first Advanced Dual Friction Modifier. The company says the new additive is 25% more efficient in reducing friction, while lowering carbon emissions through an enhanced fuel and oil interaction.
Petronas says that the new fuel also helps remove up to 99.9% of engine deposits in “key areas”. As a result, the company says the new Primax 97 with Pro-Race is able to provide users with a more powerful, responsive, and efficient driving experience.
Petronas Dagangan Berhad Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Azrul Osman Rani said, “The new Petronas Primax 97 with Pro-Race is our best fuel, as the new formulation was designed to cater to advanced engine technologies and meet the high-performance driving needs of our customers today.
“Having translated our fluid technology from track to road, we are very excited to finally let our customers experience an effortless drive, achievable through the three-in-one benefit comprising power, responsiveness and efficiency.”
The new fuel leverages on Petronas’ experience in the development of fluid technology that helped the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team win its seventh consecutive World Constructors Championship this year.
Seven-time world champion and Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 driver Lewis Hamilton added, “The competitiveness on the racetrack, is intense. I need a fuel that gives me the power to move beyond – when I accelerate, when I take corners and when I need to get ahead of the pack. Petronas Primax 97 with Pro-Race is the fuel that gives your car the power as and when it needs most. I know what power means. You should too.”
Based on Petronas’ own blind tests carried out by 100 real-world users, 69% of users reported a noticeable increase in power, while 66% agreed that their vehicles felt more responsive with the new Primax 97 with Pro-Race fuel. As for efficiency, 73% of participating users noted that their vehicles recorded better mileage with the new Petronas fuel, as compared to their usual RON 97 fuel.
