Honda Civic still the king of the C-segment sedans in Malaysia – over 6,500 bookings for 2020 model

The Honda Civic still remains as popular as ever in our country. Although just launched in February – right before the entire country ground to a halt due to the COVID-19 crisis – the 2020 Honda Civic has sold more than 2,900 units nationwide, capturing more than 70% of the C-segment sedan market share according to Honda Malaysia.

The new Civic is also currently the third best seller in the Honda Malaysia model line-up; the central region contributing 44% to the total sales, followed by the southern and northern region with 17% and 15% respectively.

If you’re think that you’re always seeing white Civics on the road, don’t worry, you’re not just imagining things. The White Orchid Pearl colour – a premium option, by the way – represented 42% of all sales of the 2020 Honda Civic.

As of June 2020, 6,500 bookings have been made for the new Civic. Honda Malaysia says that the waiting period for the Civic is currently one month, but reassures that the production lines are now up and running post Movement Control Order (MCO), and stocks are available to meet the customer demand.

Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Toichi Ishiyama said, “With Malaysia moving into Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) period, most businesses are resuming operations in accordance to guidelines and standard operating procedure set by the government.

“The automotive industry are eager to recover from the pandemic and help the nation towards economic recovery,” he added, while expressing support to the government’s recent announcement of the sales tax exemption period, which is part of the short term economy recovery plan, PENJANA.

With the exemption of sales tax due to its locally-assembled nature, the 2020 Honda Civic is now priced from RM109,326.51 to RM134,934, depending on variant and exterior colour chosen.
