Video: 2020 Mazda2 Sedan facelift, 5 Things

Bermaz Motor recently launched the 2020 Mazda2 Sedan facelift, available in just one variant at RM103,670. Priced as a premium product, does the new Mazda2 sedan have what it takes to command the new price? Watch on and judge for yourself.

The Mazda2’s styling has been cleaned up for a smarter and elegant look. Up front, the grille has been enlarged for a more unified look with the brand’s other seventh-generation models, flanked by reshaped LED headlights with a new daytime-running light signature. The wheels, still 16-inches in size, have also been updated with a new multi-spoke design.

Inside, the overall dashboard architecture remains identical to its predecessor. Sitting atop the dashboard is an updated seven-inch Mazda Connect infotainment display, now featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The seats have been resculptured to reduce head movements on the move for a more comfortable driving experience, along with the softer suspensions. There’s also a new Blue Grey leather and suede upholstery that goes on the seats, dashboard and door cards.

Unchanged from before is the 1.5-litre SkyActiv-G naturally-aspirated engine, pumping out 114 hp and 149 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via the six-speed automatic gearbox, now tuned for a smoother acceleration.

The new 2020 Mazda2 gets the marque’s GVC Plus torque vectoring system as standard, which uses the brakes on each individual wheels to keep the vehicle on track and enhance handling performance.
