Proton says warranties not affected by MCO

Proton makes 1st-time car ownership more affordable for fresh graduates

Proton has now officially joined the list of car brands in Malaysia to offer warranty extensions amid the Movement Control Order (MCO) due to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a statement released by Proton, all warranties expiring during the MCO period will be automatically extended by 1,000 km or 30 days following the final day of the MCO, whichever comes first.

As for customers who missed their scheduled maintenance due to the temporary closures of service centres, rest assured that your warranty will not be voided. Customers are advised to carry out service their vehicles 30 days post the end of the MCO to keep their warranties valid.

To ensure that you don’t miss the deadline, Proton advices to contact your preferred service outlet to book an appointment within 15 days after the end of the MCO.

You’ll have to wait a while more for the drive you’ve been dreaming of…

The MCO is scheduled to end on the 14th of April, though ramblings on social media seem to point towards an extension – we’ll just have to wait and see. For now, please stay at home and help flatten the curve!

If you need some tips on how to keep your cars healthy too during this MCO period, Proton has helpfully provided some pointers.
