Proton Saga breaks the 4,000 units barrier for the third month in a row

Proton has just posted their sales performances numbers for the month of November 2019, reporting a total sales of 9,643 units – double of the figure from the same period last year.

The cumulative volume for the year now stands at 89,476 units for the national carmaker, which marks a 50.1% growth in total year-on-year numbers. Proton also says that their market share has grown to an estimated 16.2% for the whole of 2019.

Leading Proton’s sales performance is the Proton Saga, which has broken the 4,000 units barrier for the third month consecutively, as 4,091 cars were delivered in November. The figure puts the Proton Saga on top of the A-segment sedan sales table, adding to a total of 34,422 units sold so far in 2019 – a volume growth of 32% for the model.

Proton’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Li Chunrong said, “In just four months, we have already achieved more than 35,000 bookings and currently, every unit our factory can deliver has been spoken for.

“Our challenge therefore is to increase our production capacity for the Saga and we have had intensive discussions with our vendors to work towards a volume increase next year”, he added.

Approaching the one year anniversary since its market introduction, the Proton X70 continues to perform strongly in sales. In November, the national carmaker delivered 2,000 units of their first SUV. Dr Li has said that Proton is committed to growing the market interest in the coming year.
