Aston Martin DBX will be getting a 4.0-litre twin turbo V8!

After announcing that the DBX will be put into production more than 4 years ago, Aston Martin has finally announced that their first SUV has entered the final stages of development, together with the official announcement of its powertrain!

Just as we’ve guessed, under the hood of the Aston Martin DBX will sit a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, supplied by Mercedes-AMG. Producing 550 hp and 700 Nm of torque, the engine in the DBX will be the highest performing V8 engine in the current range!

During extensive real-world driving and high-performance track tests, Aston Martin says that the DBX repeatedly exceeded speeds of 290 km/h (180 mph). Official top speed and acceleration figures will be announced when final tests are concluded.

The new Aston Martin SUV has also achieved cornering speeds on par with the Vantage (yes, the performance-focused sports car), and even beat the DBS Superleggera in braking performance! I guess Aston Martin wasn’t kidding when they said the DBX will be “sports car first, SUV second“.

The Aston Martin DBX is set to be unveiled in December 2019. For now, we can only wait while listening to the roar of that glorious engine.
