Petronas introduces new engine lubricant for hybrid vehicles



The latest range of Petronas lubricants is a result of track-to-road technology transfer through the partnership between Petronas Lubricants and five times World’s Constructors Champion in Formula 1, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport.

In a press event held today, Petronas Lubricants Marketing Malaysia (PLMM) introduced the Petronas Syntium 7000 Ultimate Series, featuring the Petronas Syntium 7000 Hybrid with CoolTech -PLMM’s first entry into the fast-expanding hybrid market in Malaysia. 

Lewis Hamilton, driver for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team and five times World Driver’s Championship winner was also present at the launch event today.

During the Q&A session he said, “Petronas plays such a crucial role in cooling our engines and supports us in achieving results on track. The teamwork between our technical organisations have been outstanding.”

Petronas Dagangan Berhad’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer and Petronas Vice President of Marketing, Downstream Business, Dato’ Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir also added that the partnership between the two organisations is more than technical co-engineering – two Petronas engineers are permanently stationed within the Formula 1 team at all races to monitor all fluids entering the cars, as well as absorb the working ethics of the team to be brought over to the Petronas group. 

Also introduced today as part of the latest range of engine lubricants are the Petronas Syntium 7000 0W-16 and 0W-20, Petronas Syntium 3000 5W-30 and Petronas 800 5W-30. All of these engine oils will include the CoolTech additive to cool vital parts of the engine and run efficiently under pressure. 

This range of low-viscosity engine lubricants are also designed to protect against Low-Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI) for the latest turbocharged direct-injection gasoline powered vehicles, meeting the latest API SN PLUS Specifications

Petronas is also continuing their efforts to provide convenient access to Petronas products and services to the customers globally through their Petronas AutoExpert service centres. According to Dato’ Sri Syed Zainal Abidin, 5 out of 8 planned AutoExpert centres in my Malaysia are already in operation, and the rest will follow suit soon.
