Proton achieves highest sales figures in 46 months

Proton is celebrating another milestone as the national carmaker posted its highest sales figures in 46 months with 10,611 units sold in May alone – more than 50% jump from the previous month.

Overall sales in the first five months of the year is over 70% higher compared to the same period in 2018.

In case you’re wondering if the base model X70 feels inadequate, here’s Adrian’s take on it!

The biggest contributor was none other than the Proton X70, the first SUV for Proton with 2,439 units sold in May and 13,572 delivered in the first five months of the year.

Also driving sales is the 2019 facelift Proton Persona and Iriz, with 2,972 units of the former sold in May, while the Iriz posted 940 units sold. These two models’ strong showing helped contribute 36% of Proton’s overall sales and with 10,000 bookings received thus far, the national carmaker’s got its hand tied for the coming months.

As for the trusty Saga, sales have surpassed 3,000 units for the second month in a row with 3,610 units in May 2019.

For the coming weeks, Proton will be looking to add more 3S/4S outlets to better cater to its customers.

“PROTON’s strategy for the remainder of the year is to continue to grow our sales by introducing improvements to our current model range and improving our brand experience by opening more 3S/4S outlets as these efforts have obtained positive feedback from our customers,” added CEO of Proton, Dr Li Chunrong.
