Remember to fill up with diesel on the facelifted Audi S4

At the announcement of the facelifted Audi A4 range, the four-rings also introduced the refreshed S4 sedan and S4 Avant. Just like the S5 TDI which was unveiled recently, the S4 range is now powered by a mild-hybrid turbodiesel.

It’s not all bad news for petrolheads because the 3.0-litre V6 TDI packs 347 hp and best-in-class 700 Nm of torque. The onboard 48V MHEV system works to charge up the electric compressor to give the S4 TDI instantaneous response and seamless power build-up.

With the 8-speed automatic and Quattro permanent all-wheel drive, century sprint on the S4 TDI sedan takes 4.8 seconds onwards to a limited top speed of 250 km/h. A compact, air-cooled lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 0.5 kWh located under the boot acts as an energy management centre and contributes to reduced fuel consumption of up to 0.4 litres per 100 km.

Like all Audi S models, the S4 duo is identified by the exclusive quad exhaust tailpipes, aggressive front and rear bumpers, honeycomb Singleframe grille, Sport seats and S-specific Audi Virtual Cockpit design.
