BMW Group Malaysia has just unveiled the BMW i3s, the first Battery Electric Vehicle or in other words a pure electric vehicle at the 2019 Malaysia Autoshow in MAEPS, Serdang.
While the car may be foreign to us, BMW had previously sold more than 120,000 units of the BMW i3 globally and the new one is said to be more polished and refined than its predecessor.
The BMW i3s is capable of an output of 184 hp with 270 Nm of torque from a synchronous electric motor with a single-speed automatic transmission.
The BMW i3s is capable of 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 160 km/h.
LED headlamps are standard, along with sports suspension (custom springs, dampers and anti-roll bars) that lowers the ride by 10mm to complement the wider track width (40mm) for sportier handling. Filling the arches are 20-inch style 431 BMW i light alloy wheels
The BMW i3s’ lithium-ion battery is place in the vehicle floor offers up to 260 km of pure electric driving range based on the Customer Oriented Electric range in everyday use. Combined electric power consumption is rated at 14.3kWh per 100 km – better get used to these figures.
Over 80% of all visible surfaces are made of recycled material such as recycled plastics, natural fibres and open-pored, unbleached eucalyptus wood.
The carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) passenger cell also helped achieve that feeling of lightweight spaciousness that every electric vehicle strives for.
The model is furnished with a 10.2-inch infotainment display, a 5.7-inch TFT instrument cluster and the BMW i Interior Design Suite that features a sophisticated instrument panel and Dark Truffle Leather Vernasca upholstery.
Safety features include the Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control, Cornering Brake Control, Dynamic Brake Contol, ABS with Brake Assist.
The First-Ever BMW i3s can be pre-ordered from the authorised BMW i dealership, Auto Bavaria Kuala Lumpur as of today. It’s available in Fluid Black and Capparis White, and Mineral Grey.
With the Balloon Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, the BMW i3s can be owned with monthly installment plans starting from RM 3,188.00 (based on estimates of an 80% loan on a five-year tenure).
The BMW i3s is priced at an estimated RM279,000 and comes with a 5-year Unlimited Mileage Warranty with Free Scheduled Service programme, 2-year Tyre Warranty, BMW Roadside Assistance and BMW’s White Card privileges.
