BMW has just presented the China market exclusive long-wheelbase version of the eight-generation BMW 3 Series sedan at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. The 3 Series Li addresses the local demand for spaciousness and comfort in a premium compact sports sedan.
Compared to a standard wheelbase 3 Series, the 3 Series Li has a 110 mm longer wheelbase (2,851 mm vs. 2,961 mm) which transforms the overall length to 4,829 mm (120 mm more). To put things into perspective, the G30 5 Series measures 4,935 mm in length, making the 3 Series Li a big car.

The longer wheelbase translates to a roomier cabin, most of which benefits the rear passengers. Besides the visually longer rear doors, everything else are identical to what the standard 3er is with available equipment include LED projector Headlamps, M Sport body kit, M Sport suspension, 19-inch five twin-spoke alloy wheels, 12.3-inch LCD instrument cluster, 10.25-inch Control Display with BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant and more.
In China, the 3 Series – both SWB and LWB – are offered in a sole 325i guise, powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and eight-speed automatic transmission.

Unlike the 330i that we have in Malaysia, China’s 3 Series comes with the full suite of advanced driver’s assistance system including Lane Departure Warning, Collision and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Lane Change Warning, rear collision warning, crossing traffic warning and Driving Assistant Professional.
The new G20 BMW 3 Series will be produced by BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) at its Tiexi plant in Shenyang, Liaoning Province.
