Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has serviced over 40,000 cars since January 2019

This year will be a challenging year for the automotive industry with the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) forecasting a flattish year for sales growth. However, that did not stop Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) from hyping the market with five new model variants in the first quarter of 2019.

The five model variants – E 200 SPORTSTYLE Avantgarde, E 300 Exclusive, E 350 AMG Line, GLC 300 Coupe and GLE 450 AMG Line, reinforces MBMs product portfolio in the premium automotive segment. That is further spruced up with the recent introduction of the A-Class Sedan.

With the wide range of products and array of customer engagement activities, MBM successfully retained its position as the number 1 premium brand in Malaysia with 2,944 new cars delivered to customers since January 2019 – down by -11.7% compared to the same period last year.

The slight decline in new vehicle deliveries was bolstered with the news of over 40,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles were serviced in the first quarter of 2019, a staggering 13% increase compared to the previous year. The positive growth in vehicles serviced further highlights the success of MBMs customer-centric approach.

Mercedes-Benz Services Malaysia (MBSM) also recorded a growth in the first quarter of 2019 with a financing portfolio of over RM2.7 billion with an increase of 0.3 billion of year-to-date. MBSM financed four out five Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold and 50% of them were insured by MBSM.

Commenting on MBM’s outlook for the year ahead, MBM President and CEO, Dr Claus Weidner said, “We will continue the momentum in the first quarter of 2019. We are indeed looking to introduce more upcoming premium products and we will be sharing more information in due time.”
