Imagine handing over the keys of your Volvo to your spouse, teenage children or even a friend for the weekend and having to worry about them hitting illegal speeds – which is quite easily achieved on modern Volvos – endangering their lives and the well-being of your car!
Which is why Volvo will be launching the Care Key which allows the owners to set a speed limit when the key is in use. This comes after the announcement that the Swedish marque is looking to limit the top speed on all its cars to 180 km/h from 2020 to send a strong message about the dangers of speeding.
Volvo Cars’ President and Chief Executive, Hakan Samuelsson said: “We believe that a car maker has a responsibility to help improve traffic safety. Our recently announced speed limit fits that thinking, and the Care Key is another example. Many want to be able to share their car with friends and family but are unsure about how to make sure they are safe on the road. The Care Key provides one good solution and extra peace of mind.”
The Volvo Care Key will be a standard feature on all Volvo cars from model year 2021.
