Malaysian-made MINI Cooper S Countryman are being exported to Thailand



BMW Group Malaysia has just delivered the first units of the MINI Countryman to Thailand for its export programme. Produced at the INOKOM plant in Kulim, Kedah, the new Countryman exported to the Land of Smiles are of the Cooper S variant.

Managing Director and CEO, BMW Group Malaysia, Harald Hoelzl said: ““The INOKOM Corporation plant in Kulim, Kedah, which is a partnership between Sime Darby Berhad and BMW Group Malaysia, are among 30 production sites in 14 countries around the world for the BMW Group and is an important touch point for us in the South East Asian region.”

The export initiatives of BMW Group Malaysia in South East Asia are a clear success of the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA) that promotes intra-ASEAN trade. ATIGA has helped BMW Group in utilising plants in ASEAN more efficiently, providing flexibilities to match its production to the market demands, both for domestic and for export effectively.

Thailand market will be receiving two variants of the MINI Cooper S Countryman – Standard and Hightrim. Both are equipped with circular LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED fog lamps and sport leather steering wheel.

The lower variant gets Parking Assistant, 18-inch Pair Spoke alloy wheels, Piano Black finish interior trims, Leather Cross Punch Carbon Black sport seats, powered boot and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The Hightrim variant gets additional Chrome exterior highlights, rear-view camera, three-spoke MINI Yours sport leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, 19-inch Edged Spoke alloy wheels, heads up display and 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Both variants are powered by the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and eight-speed automatic transmission, generating 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque. The MINI Cooper S Countryman is priced at THB2,299,000 (RM259k) while the Hightrim retails for THB2,499,000 (RM282k) in Thailand.
