Perodua has sold 99,700 cars for the first six months of the year, marking an increase of 2.4 percent compared to the same period last year. According to the company’s internal estimates, their market share is approximately 35.1 percent of the total 284,200 vehicles sold.

As it stands, all Perodua models are number one in their respective segments. They sold 32,600 units of the Axia, 28,300 units of the Bezza, 24,000 units of the Myvi and 14,700 units of the Alza. The Axia is currently the company’s most popular model. In the export markets, Perodua shipped 1,854 vehicles to six countries in six months.

Interestingly, the total industry volume has improved by 2.3 percent or 284,200 cars for 1H 2017, up from 275,500 cars last year. Perodua’s President and CEO Datuk Dr Aminur Rashid Salleh said, “Despite the improvement in sales, we foresee that the tighter lending guideline is still by far our greatest challenge to overcome because most of our customers are first-time buyers.”

In fact, Perodua will be running a special campaign for the Myvi with cash backs of up to RM7,500. Dr Aminar also encouraged customers to drop by their nearest Perodua showroom and stand a chance to win up to RM12,000 in cash when they take part in the Myvi’s 12th year anniversary celebrations.

As for after sales, Perodua serviced 1.02 million cars in 1H 2017, an increase from 1.01 million intakes last year. The company plans to sell 202,000 sales this year and are cautiously optimistic. Throughout 2016, Perodua sold 207,100 cars, the highest number they’ve achieved, ever.
