BMW is now the leading luxury brand in China, selling 48,869 cars in April alone!

BMW Group China has finally outsold Mercedes-Benz and Audi in April to become China’s bestselling luxury brand. The company sold 48,869 cars in April alone, which translates to a whopping 39.2 percent increase compared to the same month last year.

Following closely in second place is Mercedes-Benz with 47,627 cars (+35.3 percent), while Audi came in third with 46,166 units (-6.9 percent). Since January, approximately 191,697 units of BMWs have been sold in China, marking a stunning 18.2 percent growth compared to the same period in 2016.

This strong growth is predominantly attributed to the increased demand for the BMW X1 and the market-exclusive 1 Series sedan. On the local front, BMW Group Malaysia is also following an upward trend in sales but still trails behind Mercedes-Benz Malaysia who is currently the leading premium marque in Malaysia.
