BMW Group Malaysia charts historic sales performance, exporting core models soon

Against improbable odds, BMW Group Malaysia, the company overseeing local sales of BMW cars, MINI vehicles and BMW Motorrad motorcycles, have recorded their sixth consecutive sales high. The numbers grew by a staggering 16 percent from the same period in 2015!

The company collectively sold 10,906 units of cars and motorcycles last year, compared to the 9,368 units shifted back in 2015. Their latest crop of lineup – particularly the 330e iPerformance and X5 xDrive40e – helped usher the brand to unprecedented popularity. BMW cars alone account for 9,000 units, up 20 percent from 7,515 vehicles sold in 2015.2016 BMW 330e launch

There’s also growth for MINI and the Motorrad division; the former saw 902 vehicles registered and the latter approximately 1,004 bikes.

Managing Director and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia, Mr, Han Sang Yun said, “The continued and growing support from our customers and network of dealerships here were the main factors for our best achievements in 2016. On behalf of the Group, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our customers and dealers here for helping us achieve this milestone in an especially challenging year.”

This year, the company’s focus is in exporting their core models – the BMW 3 Series, 5 Series and 7 Series to Vietnam and the Philippines. An investment totalling RM10 million will go into enhancing local assembly capabilities, upping production to over 10,000 vehicles per year.2016 BMW G30 5-Series M-Performance Unveiled

Additionally, RM130 million will go into the establishment of BMW Regional Parts Distribution Centre (that’s major after sales news) located at the Free Trade Zone of the Senai International Airport of Iskandar Malaysia.
