2017 Hyundai Grand Starex Royale Deluxe facelift announced, new design for RM168,888

Hyundai Sime Darby Malaysia (HSDM) has just announced the Hyundai Grand Starex Royale facelift for 2017. The facelift exercise is largely an aesthetic makeover for the 11-seater family mover featuring a bolder and more imposing appearance.

Introduced to the Malaysian market since 1998, the Starex became a popular choice for consumers looking for an affordable full-sized MPV. With a price tag of RM168,888 OTR inclusive of road tax and insurance for the Grand Starex Royale Deluxe 2.5GLS Diesel (A) VGT, it is definitely an attractive package for those looking for a large people mover.

At the front, the facelifted model gets a more prominent mesh-design chrome grille with revised front bumper that houses the new fog lamps. Parts that are carried over from the pre-facelift model are the halogen reflector headlamps and wing mirror mounted LED daytime running lights.

At the rear, the Grand Starex Royale packs a little more aggression with a sportier tailgate spoiler with integrated third brake light, revised tail lamps with black housings and a redesigned rear bumper with integrated exhaust outlets. A pair of new side skirts completes the look of the facelift model.2016 Hyundai Grand Starex Royale Faceift

Powertrain remains the same with a 2.5-litre CRDi turbodiesel with Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) and turbo cooler that produces 168 hp at 3,800 rpm and 392 Nm at 2,000 – 2,500 rpm mated to a five-speed automatic transmission to drive the front wheels.

As standard the Grand Starex Royale is equipped with cruise control, dual SRS airbags, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and Safe Drive Recorder.

HSDM is offering the Starex in three exterior shades – Creamy White, Timeless Black and Hyper Silver. With a price tag of RM169k, its positioned well below the likes of Toyota Vellfire, Alphard and Mercedes-Benz V-Class; bear in mind that neither of the alternatives are able to fit 11 people at one go.

At that price point, it even undercuts the grey imports while providing a peace of mind to customers with HSDM’s five-year or 300,000km (whichever comes first) extended warranty and 24-hour road assist service for all its new (and old for the road side assist) passenger vehicles.

The Hyundai Grand Starex Royale facelift is available for viewing, booking and test-drive at all Hyundai showrooms nationwide from December 2016 onwards.
