UMW Toyota plans to end the year with a bang with the launch of the all-new Innova. The second-generation MPV will be offered in three variants, with prices beginning from RM109k to RM126k.
First debuted in the Indonesian market in late 2015, the Innova shares the new IMV platform underpinning the Hilux and Fortuner. This means the Innova gets a ladder frame configuration and will be rear-wheel driven just like the older model. For those looking for an MPV that seats more than seven, then good news, because like the old model, this is an eight seater.
All three variants will be powered by a 2.0-litre Dual VVT-i Engine that is expected to push out 137 hp at 5,600 rpm and 183 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. A five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions are offered in this new Innova.
As usual, the model lineup begins with the E trim, which can be had in both tranmissions. It receives a silver radiator grille and body coloured door handles, Monochrome Multi-info display, and three airbags (two front & driver knee).
The range topping G variant is only available with an automatic transmission, and gets a chromed grille and door handles, 4.2-inch colour multi-info screen, push start button and seven airbags. Just like the Sienta sibling, it receives active safety kit ranging from Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Hill Assist and Emergency Stop Signal. As a matter of fact, the five-airbag variant of the Innova aced in the ASEAN NCAP crash test. The E variant which lacks active safety features scored a decent four-star.
The new Innova is now open for booking at any UMW Toyota showrooms nationwide, although no launch dates have been revealed thus far. The OTR pricing as stated on UMW Toyota’s website remains as estimated figures. The Base E manual model begins at RM109,000.00 while the automatic variant costs RM117,000.00. The range-topping G automatic could be yours at RM126,000.00. A total of six exterior colour are available as well.
