Mazda2 Red Edition introduced in the UK, when is our turn?

Mazda UK is relatively active in introducing limited edition models, having previously launched the Mazda3 Sport Black that was limited to just 800 units. This time it’s the littler model’s turn to shine with the Mazda2 Red Edition.

Available in either Snowflake White Pearlescent (one of our favourite white finishes) or Black Mica hues, both will get Soul Red Metallic touches on certain trims like side mirrors, rear spoiler and lower rear bumper. There’s only one cost option for the Red Edition, that is to have the £300 (RM1,576 based on current forex rates) Dark Gunmetal finish on the standard 15-inch rims. To avoid confusion, the Mazda2 sold by Bermaz Motor here in Malaysia sits on 16-inch wheels as standard.

Inside is where things get a bit more saucy. The fabric seats, door trims, knee pad inserts and dashboard are all finished in red, but this loud combination has yet to grow on us. If that’s not Red Edition enough for you, there’s the optional red floor mats that you can opt for.

Just 400 units of this special example will be made available, and it’s based on the 1.3-litre SE-L variant. It costs £14,995, or close to RM79,000.
