UMW Toyota Motor announced that they have received confirmation from Toyota Motor Corporation on a special service campaign involving approximately 255 units of Lexus NX manufactured from November 2014 to March 2015.
In a press statement released by UMW Toyota Motor, the special service campaign involves replacing the ABS actuator on the affected Lexus NX models. The ABS actuator is responsible in controlling the Anti-Lock Braking system (ABS), the Traction Control System (TRAC), and the Vehicle Stability Control System (VSC).
A resin component inside the ABS actuator could be damaged during the press fit assembly due to its improper shape, creating tiny resin particles which could get stuck in the actuator. This is turn may delay the oil pressure control when the ABS is activated, causing a loss of vehicle stability and increasing the risk of a crash.
UMW Toyota Motor will contact all affected customers to replace the ABS actuator free of charge if necessary, while this campaign only affects the Lexus NX and no other Lexus models sold by UMW Toyota Motor.
