Nissan GT-R gets a special shade of gold for its 45th anniversary – US market only

Nothing screams ‘premium’ or ‘exclusive’ like gold these days, and that’s how Nissan plans to celebrate the GT-R’s 45th birthday, by giving it a shade of gold. Fittingly named the 45th Anniversary Gold Edition, the GT-R is based on the market’s Premium variant, one that sits just below the Black Edition GT-R.

The ‘Silica Brass’ paint you see here first appeared in 2001 on the R34 GT-R M-Spec, and fewer than 30 units of this GT-R will be allocated across selected dealers in the US. Minor changes have been made to the car, such as the additional 5 hp gain (total 550 hp) and new 20-inch darkened RAYS aluminium-forged wheels featuring 20 spokes as compared to the previous 10-spoke design.

It also comes with a set of nitrogen-filled Dunlop Sport Maxx GT 600 high performance run flat tyres, sized 255/40 at the front and a fatter 285/35 for the rear. The tyres here are shared with the Nismo GT-R.

Despite the new paint and wheels, the GT-R Gold Edition is priced a mere 1,000 USD (RM3,700) more than the Premium variant of which it’s based on, so it’s quite a bargain for customers there. The GT-Rs are priced as such:

GT-R Premium $101,770 USD est RM377k
GT-R 45th Anniversary Gold Edition $102,770 USD est RM381k
GT-R Black Edition $111,510 USD est RM413k
GT-R Nismo $149,990 USD est RM550k
