The new MY15 model now features Kia’s signature front face, as well as having a deep sweeping windscreen. Like a crossover, the new Carnival (Kia Sedona in North America) has its cab pushed forwards for maximum passenger space. The length of the Sedona is 5156mm, with a width of 1983mm and the height is 1739mm.

In terms of safety aspects, the Kia Sedona has you protected with  active safety features such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Brake Assist System (BAS), Hill start Assist Control (HAC), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Roll Over Mitigation (ROM) and Cornering Brake Control (CBC).

Power wise, the MY15 Sedona will be powered by the new Lambda GSI (Gasoline Direct Injection) engine, with a cubic capacity of 3.3-litre. It’s also a V6 unit like the old model. This new Lambda engine provides 276 hp @ 6,000rpm of shoving power and 336NM of torque @ 5,200rpm. The only transmission choice is a 6-speed automatic gearbox. No performance data was provided.

On the handling front, the Sedona has front MacPherson struts, coil springs, anti-roll bar, Amplitude Selected Damper, and the backs are multi-link with struts, coil springs, a surprise that a large MPV like this doesn’t use the traditional torsion beam.

No words on local availability as yet, but it would be a pleasant surprise to see Naza importing this to challenge the likes of Toyota’s latest offerings.
