The 1,156 hp Denza Z9 GT EV is coming to Malaysia on July 15

Following its local preview earlier this month, Denza Malaysia has now confirmed that the Z9 GT will be officiall launched in Malaysia on July 15. We Malaysians will be getting the sleek shooting brake wagon in a pure EV guise.

According to the company, Malaysia will be amongst the first regions globally to receive the updated 2026 Denza Z9 GT in right-hand-drive form, and the first in the Asia Pacific market outside of China to introduce the model. When it arrives here next month, it’ll be offered in a single variant, powered by three electric motors.

The three motors, one on the front axle and two at the rear, produce a combined output of 1,156 hp and 1,210 Nm of torque delivered to all four wheels, which enables the Z9 GT to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. Flat out, the EV wagon will reach an electronically limited top speed of 240 km/h – and quickly too, we might add.

Juicing the motors is the second-generation BYD Blade LFP battery pack, with a total capacity rated at 122.49 kWh – up from the pre-facelift 100 kWh pack. The new battery is what enables the Z9 GT to recharge from 10-70% in just five minutes, or 10-97% in nine minuntes, courtesy of BYD’s Megawatt Flash Charging technology which has now also been confirmed to arrive in Malaysia sometime in the future.

On a full charge, the Denza Z9 GT is expected to offer up to 600 km (WLTP) of driving range.

The Malaysia-bound Denza Z9 GT will also come equipped with rear-wheel steering of up to 15 degrees, which enables unique features such as “Crab Walk” in tight spaces, as well as a “Pencil Compass Turn” system when combined with the individually-controlled rear motors, allowing the car to pivot and slide into tight parallel parking spots automatically.

In our short test drive session at BYD’s Zhengzhou All-Terrain Test Circuit and racetrack, we found the Denza Z9 GT to demonstrate fairly respectable body control and damping capabilities, courtesy of its DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension with continous variable damping.

According to the company, our Malaysian model will also be equipped with the European-spec suspension and damping tuning, which should mean a firmer damping feel, although we have to wait until we get it out on Malaysian roads to verify. The air suspension also allows for ground clearance adjustments from between 100-145 mm; its standard ride height is 120 mm.

The Denza Z9 GT will act as the flagship model for the brand, and is suitably styled to cement that position, from the “Elegance in Motion” sculpted design, to the 2K “nano-ceramic” paintwork and the standard-fit 20-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, it’s three screens on the dashboard (17.3-inch infotainment display, 13.2-inch digital instrument cluster and passenger display), complemented by huge swathes of leather, natural wood veneer, and even a knitted fleece headliner. The front windscreen is even double-layer silver-coated to reduce glare and heat for the front passengers, while the front glass, side windows, and sunroof are also double-laminated for noise control.

The screens, by the way, are running on a Google Built-in operating system, and has access to the various Google Automotive services including Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store. Drivers also get access to an additional “50-inch” augmented reality head-up display, along with a 9.1-inch digital rearview “mirror” monitor.

The premium positioning of the Denza Z9 GT is further emphasised by the 20-speaker Devialet sound system, powered doors, and powered rear seats with recline, heating, ventilation, and massage functions, as well as a four-zone climate control system adjustable via a six-inch touchscreen behind the centre console for the rear passengers.

As is pre-requisite these days, there’s also a four-litre fridge (or warmer) located within the centre armrest, capable of storing up to six soft drink cans.

Denza Malaysia says the Z9 GT will be offered at launch in just two exterior colours, namely the Rime Gold and Obsidian Black, both pictured here. These can then be paired to three different interior colour options: two-tone Dark Chocolate and Red Velvet (exclusive to Rime Gold), two-tone Dark Chocolate and Perg Beige, and full-black with suede seats.

The company did not provide any indicative pricing as yet, although we won’t have to wait too long more to find out, as the official launch date for the Denza Z9 GT is now confirmed for July 15, 2026. Registrations of interest is also now open, so act quick if you want to be amongst the first to experience it.
