Kineta and ZD Energy extend exclusive charger distribution partnership for 3 more years

Kineta, the EV charging solutions subsidiary of Sime Darby Berhad, has renewed its exclusive distributorship agreement with ZD Energy, China’s largest private EV charger provider, for another three years. The memorandum of understanding, signed during the recent Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS 2026), retains Kineta’s sole distribution rights for the Chinese firm’s smart energy and EV charging solutions in Malaysia and Singapore.

To date, Kineta has sold over 14,000 EV chargers and completed over 9,500 installations in Malaysia, covering brands represented by the Sime Darby group like BMW, MINI, BYD, Jaguar Land Rover, Hyundai, Porsche, Volvo, but also other EV makes including Proton eMAS, Tesla, iCaur, Zeekr, and GWM

The signing ceremony also saw the debut of ZD Energy’s latest charging lineup, which consists of the Mini Z, Explorer 2 Flex, Explorer 2 Pro and the Battery Integrated DC Charger.

The Battery Integrated DC Charger is a unique DC charging solution that could be partially ssolar-poweredwhile connected to the grid. In a brief chat with ZD Energy CEO, Dr. Amy Shang, the Battery Integrated DC Charger could be entirely solar-powered just by adding solar panels, making DC charging a viable option at locations not covered by the grid.
