Porsche has teased a new 911 variant that Stuttgart plans to reveal on 14 April 2026. Exactly one photo of the car has been provided; it is, quite predictably, hidden under a sheet.
The silhouette makes one thing clear; this isn’t a new GT3 RS or a GT2 RS. The absence of a massive rear spoiler gives the game away. Since the Carrera 4S, Turbo S, and GT3 have already transitioned to the 992.2 generation, we are left looking at the remaining 992.1 models. These include the S/T and the Dakar, though those are limited-run specials rather than standard production models.
Porsche claims this new 911 will be a “particularly fun sports car” designed to deliver “pure driving pleasure.” While any 911 is inherently enjoyable, these cryptic teasers suggest something specific.
Perhaps Stuttgart is expanding the manual gearbox’s reach further into the 992.2 range. Alternatively, with the GTS and Turbo S already adopting hybrid power, this could be the purist’s last chance at a 911 powered purely by internal combustion.
Rumours on the Rennlist forum suggest the car currently under wraps is a new 911 GT3 Sport Cabriolet. This configuration would involve Porsche fitting the 4.0-litre flat-six engine, making 510 hp and 450 Nm from the 992.2 GT3. With a 9,000 RPM redline and an open-top body, it is certainly an interesting combination if it’s really the case.

We will all have to wait until 14 April 2026 for that mystery to break cover. But if you can’t wait, the current 911 GT3 has just landed in Malaysia. It’ll cost at least RM2,290,000, on-the-road without insurance.
Powering the Porsche GT3 is a 4.0-litre flat-six engine, pushing out 510 hp and 450 Nm. This enables a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds with the seven-speed PDK; or 3.9 seconds for those opting for the six-speed manual, trading a few tenths of a second for a more mechanical connection to that 9,000 RPM soundtrack.
