Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has announced a leadership transition for its Southeast Asia operations, effective 1st February 2026. Martin Schulz has assumed the dual roles of President and CEO of MBM, while also serving as the head of the newly integrated Southeast Asia Region covering Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Schulz succeeds Amanda Zhang, who continues her involvement with the company as a Senior Adviser and a member of the Board of Directors.
Zhang, who took on the role in 2023, oversaw the implementation of the “Retail of the Future” agency model in Malaysia, and the opening of the Stars@Mercedes-Benz Bangsar flagship outlet. Her leadership saw a significant expansion of the brand’s product portfolio, as well as its electric vehicle (EV) charging network through local partnerships.
Following her work in driving growth in Singapore and refining the regional Go-to-Market strategy, Zhang will now support the transition in her advisory capacity.
“It has been a privilege to lead Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and Singapore, and I am proud of what our team has achieved together across the region,” Zhang shared. She added that she welcomes Martin Schulz into the role and has full confidence in his leadership as the organisation enters its next phase of growth.
Martin Schulz joined Mercedes-Benz in 1999 and possesses extensive international experience, including previous CEO roles in the United Arab Emirates and Romania. His portfolio includes over a decade in senior management positions across Asia, specifically in Vietnam, Thailand, and Korea. Before this latest appointment, Schulz was based at the Mercedes-Benz headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, where he held various positions within the Sales and Marketing functions.
“I am thrilled to return to Asia and join the teams in Malaysia and across the Southeast Asia region,” Schulz said. He noted that he is committed to working with retail partners to reinforce the brand’s leadership in luxury mobility. Schulz also expressed his appreciation to Zhang for her achievements and her ongoing guidance on key strategic initiatives for the business.
