The Smart #5 has been launched in Malaysia by Pro-Net, Proton’s new energy vehicle subsidiary and the country’s sole Smart distributor. Offered in Premium and Brabus variants, the fully imported (CBU) model is priced from RM199,800 to RM249,800, on the road, without insurance.
Built on the same platform as the Zeekr 7X, the Smart #5 takes on a more rugged and boxier look — similar to the Mercedes-Benz GLB. It sports frameless doors, full-width LED headlights and taillights, roof rails, and comes standard with 20-inch alloy wheels.
If the Premium variant’s design is a little too mundane, go for the Brabus version, which spices things up to another notch. It features red trims all over with Brabus badging, a sportier body kit, a front skirt and rear spoiler, and 21-inch Monoblock Z lightweight alloy wheels.
Step inside the Smart #5 and you’re immediately greeted by a wall of screens. The driver gets a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while the centre and passenger sides each feature 13-inch AMOLED displays. Beyond the screen-filled dashboard, notable comforts include heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, Nappa leather upholstery, 256-colour ambient lighting, and a 20-speaker Sennheiser sound system.

The Smart #5 is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor delivering 363 hp and 373 Nm, good for 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and a 200 km/h top speed. Power comes from a 100 kWh nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) battery with an 800V architecture, offering up to 590 km of WLTP range.
The Smart #5 Brabus adds a front motor for all-wheel drive, boosting output to 646 hp and 710 Nm. That drops the century sprint to just 3.8 seconds, with a slightly higher 210 km/h top speed. It also gets sport suspension and uses the same 100 kWh NCM battery, though range falls to 540 km (WLTP). Thanks to its 800-volt architecture, both variants support 22 kW AC charging and up to 450 kW DC fast charging, taking 4.5 hours and 15 minutes respectively to go from 10-80%.
