Proton has announced the appointment of Dato’ Abdul Rashid Musa as the company’s new Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He has assumed the role effective from 1 November 2025, reporting directly to the CEO of Proton, Li Chunrong.
With over 30 years of history in the company prior, Abdul Rashid was previously the Chief Technical Officer before being appointed as CEO for Proton Edar back in 2017. During his tenure, he oversaw various launches of key models such as the Proton X70 in 2018.
After his stint with Proton, Abdul Rashid joined UMW Holdings Berhad, where he led numerous initiatives in mobility, innovation, and sustainable development, in addition to heading the aerospace division.
Abdul Rashid now returns to Proton as Deputy CEO, succeeding Ainol Azmil, who served as acting Deputy CEO earlier this year following Roslan Abdullah’s departure. Ainul will continue his role as Vice President of corporate strategy, as well as the Senior Director of Proton Group’s technical procurement division.
