Here is your first uncovered look at the upcoming all-new Proton eMAS 5 – official launch on 30 Oct

Here is your first look at the upcoming all-new Proton eMAS 5 (stylised as e.MAS 5) in its entirety without camouflage. The eMAS 5 is now open for booking and offered in two variants: Prime and Premium. Estimated pricing starts from RM60,000 to RM80,000.

Interested customers can now register their interest through the official Proton eMAS website, or make a booking directly through any of the 42 Proton eMAS dealerships nationwide. Alternatively, book one through us (via the link here), and you could get what might just be the best deal in town, including Trapo goodies, on us.

Proton will launch the eMAS 5 on 30th October 2025. We will be on the ground to cover the event and provide full specifications, but for now, this remains the best look yet at Proton’s second EV model.

The design is essentially a carbon copy of the Geely Xingyuan, which was the best-selling EV in China for the first half of 2025. Aside from the Proton roundel on the front and the “PROTON” wordmark on the rear tailgate, the national carmaker stated it invested over 752,000 man-hours to localise the eMAS 5 for the Malaysian market.

Compared to Proton’s last hatchback model, the Iriz, the eMAS 5 measures larger in all dimensions, coming in at 4,135 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, and 1,580 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm.

Inside, the Proton eMAS 5 comes as standard with a darker grey interior colour, dubbed Flint Grey – although if you opt for the Premium variant with either the Marble Cream and Quartz Rose exterior hues, you’ll get a two-tone white and blue cabin instead.

Featured on the dashboard is a 14.6-inch centre-mounted touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, running on Proton’s Atlas Auto operating system.

Despite its size, the Proton eMAS 5 features 32 individual storage compartments throughout the interior, including a 20-litre space under the rear bench, a 70-litre frunk, and a 375-litre boot that expands to 1,320 litres with the rear seats folded.

Proton has only revealed powertrain specifications for the Premium thus far. The range-topping variant is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 116 hp (85 kW) and 150 Nm. Equipped with a 40.16 kWh CATL-sourced lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, the eMAS 5 Premium has a WLTP range of up to 325 km.

The base Prime variant is expected to feature a rear-motor with slightly lower outputs, which, on the Xingyuan, makes 79 hp (58 kW) and 130 Nm. This is paired with a smaller 30.12 kWh battery offering an estimated range of around 250 km.

Based on information shared during the official media preview, the Premium variant of the Proton eMAS 5 will feature six airbags, a 360-degree surround-view monitor with a 3D display, and a comprehensive suite of ADAS features. These include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and door opening warning.

The Proton eMAS 5 will be locally assembled (CKD) at Proton’s new EV plant in Tanjung Malim, although the first batch of cars is expected to be imported directly (CBU) from China. Set to launch on October 30th, 2025, we will be there to cover the price reveal and full specifications of the Proton eMAS 5, so stay tuned!
