SAIC Motor Malaysia, the distributor for MG Motor Malaysia, has announced a pricing revision for the MG S5 EV in Malaysia, which saw a price reduction of RM8,000 across all three variants. The MG S5 EV is now priced from RM107,900 for the base Com variant, on-the-road, without insurance.
- MG S5 EV Com – RM107,900 (RM8,000 lower)
- MG S5 EV Com Long Range – RM117,900 (RM8,000 lower)
- MG S5 EV Lux Long Range – RM127,900 (RM8,000 lower)
The pricing revision for the MG S5 EV comes just three weeks after a similar price reduction for the MG4 EV, which is now available in three variants only, with prices starting from RM100,800 – a decrease of RM28,111 from its previous price.
Aside from the price revision, the MG S5 EV’s equipment list is otherwise unchanged. Standard exterior kit includes automatic LED headlights and taillights, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The 17-inch alloy wheels are upgraded to 18-inch units on the Lux and Lux Long Range variants, which also gain automatic windshield wipers, a powered tailgate, and a panoramic sunroof.

Inside, the MG S5 EV features a floating-style 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 10.25-inch driver’s digital gauge cluster. Gear changes are managed via a rotary gear selector on the centre console. As standard, the interior kit includes fabric upholstery, a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, single-zone climate control, and a four-speaker sound system.
Stepping up to the Com Long Range variant adds a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with manual lumbar support, leather and fabric combination upholstery, and a six-speaker sound system. The top-range Lux Long Range variant further adds a rear centre armrest, a wireless charging pad, and a rear reading lamp.
All three variants of the MG S5 EV are powered by a single rear-mounted electric motor, making 170 hp (125 kW) and 250 Nm. Two battery packs are available. These are either a 49 kWh lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) unit providing a range of 340 km (WLTP), or a larger 62 kWh LFP pack for the two “Long Range” varaints, extending their range to 430 km (WLTP).
Both 49 kWh and 62 kWh battery packs support AC charging at 6.6 kW. For DC charging, the smaller 49 kWh battery pack supports 120 kW, which enables a 10-80% charge in 24 minutes. The larger 62 kWh battery pack supports faster DC charging at 150 kW, but its 10-80% charge time is slightly longer at 26 minutes.
