No – not the two-door sports car from Germany, but a new luxury MPV joining the ranks of the Zeekr 009, Denza D9, and XPeng X9 here in Malaysia. However, unlike those three, the GAC M8 PHEV is the first MPV of such to launch in the country with a plug-in-hybrid powertrain.
Measuring 5,212 mm in length, 1,893 mm wide, and 1,823 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,070 mm, the GAC M8 PHEV is comparable in size to the Zeekr 009. However, the M8 PHEV is slightly longer and narrower than the Zeekr, the latter of which also features a longer wheelbase.
As an MPV, the GAC M8 PHEV maintains a characteristic boxy body, complemented by a large front grille. Distinctive styling elements include the daytime running lights (DRLs), which flow from the headlights to the grille, featuring a unique pattern that mimics the reflection of light within a crystal.

Powering the GAC M8 PHEV is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder making 190 hp and 330 Nm. This is paired to an electric motor making 182 hp and 300 Nm. Combined, the total output of the GAC M8 PHEV is 372 hp and 630 Nm, with power sent to the front wheels via a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission, which enables a 0-100 km/h in 8.8 seconds.
Equipped with a 25.57 kWh battery pack, the GAC M8 PHEV boasts a pure EV range of 120 km under an undisclosed test cycle, and a combined range of 1,038 km. The GAC M8 PHEV supports both AC charging at 6.6 kW and DC charging at 40 kW. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) is also supported at 3.3 kW.
For safety systems, the GAC M8 PHEV is equipped with seven airbags as standard, and a suite of ADAS features which include:

The GAC M8 PHEV is available in two exterior colours in Malaysia: Crystal White and Elegant Black. Available in two variants, the GAC M8 PHEV is priced from RM328,800. Included in the price is a five-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 150,000 km battery warranty, whichever comes first.
