WTC Automotif has launched the all-new, locally-assembled (CKD) GAC Emkoo in Malaysia. It’s the second GAC model sold locally, alongside the GS3 Emzoom. Two variants are available, priced from RM123,800 on-the-road, excluding insurance.

Positioned as a C-segment SUV in Malaysia, the GAC Emkoo measures 4,680 mm long, 1,901 mm wide, and 1,670 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. For comparison, the Emkoo is a significantly larger car than the Proton X70, and is similar in size to the Honda CR-V.
Similar to the GS3 Emzoom, the GAC Emkoo also utilises a similar design language that is said to be inspired by fighter jets and futuristic space planes, and this is evident in the naming of its exterior styling elements, which GAC calls the “Eyes of Revelation” headlights, “Illuminant” V-shaped grille, and the “Quantum Lightsabers” taillights. Standard equipment of the GAC Emkoo includes:
- Automatic LED headlights with height adjustment and follow-me-home function, and taillights
- LED daytime running lights (DRLs)
- LED rear foglight
- Powered flush door handles
- Power-adjustable side mirrors

Stepping up to the Premium Pro variant of the GAC Emkoo adds the following exterior equipment:
- Powered side mirror with heating, kerb view and memory functionality

- 0.96 metres-square panoramic sunroof with powered sunshade
Unlike the futuristic exterior, the interior of the GAC Emkoo features a more conventional design, featuring two large displays on the dashboard, and the centre console housing a crystal gear shift knob and a large wireless charging pad. Boot space on the Emkoo is rated at 638 litres with the rear seats up, and can be expanded to 1,586 litres with the rear seats folded. Powering the GAC Emkoo in Malaysia is a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, sending 177 hp and 270 Nm to the front-wheels via a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. This enables 0-100 km/h in 8.8 seconds and a top speed of 190 km/h. Fuel consumption is rated at 6.6 L/100 km (NEDC).
As standard, both GAC Emkoo variants are equipped with six airbags and is equipped with a suite of ADAS features which include:
- Adaptive cruise control (ACC) with Integrated cruise assist (ICA) and Traffic jam assist (TJA)
- Forward collision warning
- Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with vulnerable road user protection
- Intelligent high-beam assist
- Lane keep assist (LKA)
- Lane change assist (LCA)
- Blind spot monitors (BSM)
- Door opening warning (DOW)
- Rear cross traffic alert (RCTA)

The GAC Emkoo is priced from RM123,800 in Malaysia and is available in five colours: Star Lake Green, Frost White, Super Star Silver, Graphite Grey, and Asphalt Black. Included in the price is a five-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty and a seven-year or 180,000 km engine and powertrain warranty, whichever comes first.
