Chery Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8 CSH – new PHEV variants now open for booking in Malaysia

Chery Malaysia has officially opened the order books for two new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUVs: the Chery Tiggo 7 CSH and the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH. The cars have already been previewed twice here, once during the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, and once more when the company “launched” their new Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) powertrains in Malaysia in July 2025.

Being new variants, the key difference here are their new CSH powertrain. Both the Tiggo 7 CSH and Tiggo 8 CSH will see a new hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.5-litre engine producing 143 hp and 215 Nm, paired with a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) that houses an electric motor generating 204 hp (150 kW) and 310 Nm. Combined, the total system outputs for the CSH PHEV powertrain are rated at 347 hp (255 kW) and 525 Nm of torque.

According to the booking sites for both models, Chery is claiming some impressive figures. Both SUVs are said to have a combined range of 1,200 km (NEDC) and a pure electric range of over 90 km. This is thanks to their 18.3 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which can also be recharged via DC fast charging at up to 40 kW, enabling a 30-80% recharge in just 19 minutes.

On the outside, the Chery Tiggo 7 CSH is distinguished from its petrol-powered sibling, the Tiggo 7 Pro, with several differences. It features a unique design for its front and rear bumpers and a different lighting setup with distinctive daytime running lights. Other key differences of the PHEV variant include a charging flap on the right rear panel and a new set of dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels.

Chery Tiggo 7 CSH interior

As for interior equipment, based on the booking site, the Chery Tiggo 7 CSH will be equipped with a 24.6-inch integrated dual screen setup with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 50W wireless charging pad. This appears to be the same setup in the petrol Tiggo 7 Pro.

The Chery Tiggo 8 CSH meanwhile features several subtle exterior design changes compared to its petrol-powered sibling, the Tiggo 8 Pro. It receives new front and rear bumpers, but the most notable change is the addition of a charging flap on the right rear panel. At the back, the CSH variant also switches to dual-exhaust tips, replacing the quad-exit setup found on the petrol variant.

While the 19-inch alloy wheels appear to be carried over from the Tiggo 8 Pro, perhaps the easiest way to identify the new PHEV model is the large “Plug-in-hybrid” emblem on the right side of the tailgate.

In sharp contrast to its younger sibling, the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH will get a completely different dashboard design, equipped with a new 15.6-inch infotainment display and a separate instrument cluster, replacing the 24.6-inch “integrated dual-screen” system from its petrol counterpart. There’s a new 50W wireless charging pad on the centre console, while key features like the 5+2 seating arrangement and eight-airbags are carried over from its petrol-powered sibling.

Both the Tiggo 7 CSH and Tiggo 8 CSH will be equipped with a suite of SAE Level 2.5 ADAS features. Referring to the safety equipment on their petrol counterparts, these include adaptive cruise control, integrated cruise assist, blind-spot monitors, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Chery Malaysia has not provided indicative pricing for the Tiggo 7 CSH and Tiggo 8 CSH. However, it is likely the new CSH variants will command a higher price than their petrol-powered counterparts, which are currently priced at RM123,800 for the Tiggo 7 Pro and RM159,800 for the Tiggo 8 Pro.
