All-new sixth-gen Subaru Forester now open for booking in Malaysia — public preview at selected showrooms

As announced via a social media post, the all-new sixth-generation Subaru Forester is now available for booking here in Malaysia. Interested customers can view the vehicle at selected showrooms nationwide, starting from Subaru Petaling Jaya on 21 September, and others to follow from 27 September onwards.

The all-new sixth-generation Subaru Forester measures 4,655 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, and 1,730 mm tall, with a 2,670 mm wheelbase — 30 mm longer and 15 mm wider than its predecessor. It adopts boxier proportions with rugged fenders, cleaner bumper designs, and comes standard with LED headlights and taillights — linked by a trim piece for a full-width appearance — as well as 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the all-new Forester sports a similar-looking cabin layout to newer Subaru models like the WRX and Outback. It is kitted with an 11.6-inch display that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features include a wireless charger, a 10-way power-adjustable driver seats with lumbar support, and a power-sliding glass sunroof.

Globally, the all-new sixth-generation Subaru Forester is available with both hybrid and pure internal combustion versions (ICE). According to the booking page for Malaysia, however, it appears we will mirror our neighbours in Indonesia with only the ICE variant offered – at least at launch.

In this guise, the all-new Subaru Forester gets a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated boxer engine, producing 185 hp and 247 Nm, paired with a Lineartronic CVT gearbox and Subaru’s trademark all-wheel-drive system with dual-function X-Mode. This setup delivers a 0-100 km/h time of 9.7 seconds and a top speed of 205 km/h.

The all-new Subaru Forester in Indonesia also comes standard with the Subaru EyeSight advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) featuring a comprehensive set of cameras and radars. This enables features such as front and rear autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with lane centring control, lane departure prevention assist, autonomous emergency steering, high beam assist, rear cross traffic alert, and a surround view camera system.

Exact specifications for the Malaysia-bound sixth-generation Subaru Forester will have to wait until closer to launch, although given that it has already been spotted on a trailer in Malaysia back in July, expect the SUV to make its official debut here very soon.
