While Porsche purists love to moan about their electric models, there’s no denying that the EVs have certainly found their suitors. Case in point – the brand from Stuttgart has revealed that more than half of the Porsche Macan SUVs sold in 2025 were fully electric.
As of the first half of 2025, Porsche has delivered 146,391 vehicles worldwide, with the Macan accounting for 45,137 of those sales. This represents a 15% increase in Macan sales compared to the same period last year, but more importantly, as we mentioned above, a whopping 25,884 (57%) of those were of the fully electric variant.
The reason for this surge is in part due to the unavailability of the traditional ICE-powered Macan in European markets. According to Motor1, the ICE-powered Macan was axed from Europe due to a cybersecurity law that took effect in July 2024.
As we’ve reported previously, Porsche has promised that the second-generation ICE-powered Macan will eventually phase out by 2026 — leaving the Macan line-up to be exclusively electric. The strong sales performance of the electric all-new Macan should give Porsche a confidence boost for its future.
That said, there have still been rumours that Porsche may be introducing another crossover with a hybrid powertrain. The brand was reportedly “evaluating an independent model line in the SUV segment with combustion and hybrid powertrains.” This new model is rumoured to slot in between the Cayenne and Macan and could be launching by the end of the decade.

After the Macan, the Porsche Cayenne was the second-best-selling model for the brand in 2025 thus far with 41,873 units delivered, a 23% drop due to catch-up effects of the same period last year. The 911 came in third with 25,608 units sold, a 9% drop due to the popularity of the predecessor model.
Alongside the Macan, the Panamera was one of the few models to record a sales increase, rising 13% to 14,975 deliveries. At the other end of the spectrum, the 718 saw 10,496 units sold—a 12% drop, likely due to its withdrawal from the EU market and its planned global phase-out by the end of 2025. Meanwhile, the Taycan came in last with just 8,302 deliveries, marking a 6% decline year-on-year.

Porsche AG Sales and Marketing Board Member, Matthias Becker, said, “The fully electric Macan is making a significant contribution to our proportion of electrified cars.”
“Overall, we have succeeded in keeping sales volumes stable and balanced across the sales regions despite ongoing geopolitical challenges. Our customers continue to place great value on individualised vehicles and we will continue to expand our offerings in this area,” he added.
