Tesla V4 Supercharger Station now open at i-City Finance Avenue, Shah Alam – RM1.19/kWh

Tesla Malaysia has announced that the latest addition to its Supercharger network is now in operation. Located within the car park (Level B1) of i-City Finance Avenue, Shah Alam, the new station boasts four V4 Superchargers available for use by Tesla owners.

The latest V4 Superchargers are capable of delivering up to 250 kW of energy, which according to Tesla, is capable of giving the Model 3 and Model Y up to 282 km of range in 15 minutes.

Designed for Tesla owners, the chargers utilise the “plug and charge” payment model, where billing is handled directly through the Tesla App. Owners can also utilise the app to check on the chargers’ availability, monitor charging progress, or even navigate to an available charger directly.

Priced at RM1.19 per kWh, the new Tesla Superchargers are still amongst the most cost-efficient EV chargers in the country. However, a RM4/minute idle fee – applicable when the vehicle is hogging the charger while already fully charged – will be levied when the station is at 100% capacity.

The new charging station at i-City Finance Avenue brings the total number of Tesla Supercharger Stations up to 15 nationwide, offering a combined 68 Superchargers for use. Additionally, there are also 15 Destination Charging stations (with 70 total chargers) currently available for free for all Tesla owners in Malaysia.

As part of the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry’s BEV Global Leaders programme, of which Tesla Malaysia has utilised to set up shop in the country, 30% of its “ultra fast chargers” (with capacity above 180 kW) are required to be open for public use within three years of the company’s establishment.

This has yet to materialise in the company’s plans here in Malaysia, although we believe the deadline for Tesla Malaysia to do so is sometime near the end of 2025, based on its SSM registration information.
