2025 Chery Omoda 5 facelift debuts in Russia as Omoda C5, shows off redesigned exterior

The 2025 Chery Omoda 5 facelift, revealed late last year, has just been launched in Russia under the Omoda brand, offering six variants priced from RUB 1.939 million (approx.RM 98k) to RUB 2.529 million (approx.RM 129k).

Making its global debut in Russia, the new 2025 Omoda 5 is a facelift featuring a new “Art in Motion” design language, characterised by a redesigned front grille and LED daytime-running lights (DRL).

Many of the facelift’s design touches mirror the fully electric Omoda E5, including the new slimmer daytime-running lights in front, a cleaner front bumper design, as well as the removal of the controversial red highlights. Otherwise, though, that’s pretty much the extent of the facelift.

No changes inside; dual 10.25-inch displays, one for infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the other for the driver’s digital gauge cluster, are standard. Dual-zone climate control with an N95 air purification system and a 50W wireless charging pad are also included.

The Russian Omoda C5 is also equipped with a “Winter package,” featuring heated windshield and rear window, side mirrors, windshield washer nozzles, steering wheel, and all seats, designed to combat the region’s harsh winters.

Powertrain options include the same 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 147 hp and 210 Nm, paired with a CVT gearbox driving the front wheels.

A 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, generating 150 hp and 275 Nm, is also available, coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system offering six driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport, Snow, Mud, and 4×4.

In contrast, within the Malaysian market, the Omoda 5 is offered in two variants—C and H. The crossover is priced from RM108,800 for the C variant and RM118,800 for the H variant.

Both are powered by the same 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but the Malaysian spec is more powerful than the Russian variant at 156 hp and 230 Nm, with power sent to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox. As the Chery Omoda 5 made its Malaysian debut back in 2023, it probably won’t be much longer until we see the facelift on our shores too! Stay tuned.
