The highly anticipated Tesla Model Y facelift, known internally as “Project Juniper“, has been launched in Malaysia with two variants: Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range All-Wheel Drive. Prices for the latest Model Y now start at RM195,450 on-the-road, without insurance and before optional add-ons.
If you thought the pre-facelift Model Y looked a bit ungainly, Tesla has heard your thoughts. The facelift Model Y sports a fresh new exterior design, dubbed “Cyber Design” by Tesla, inspired by the Cybertruck and Cybercab.
This means the Model Y now has a full-width lightbar at both the front and rear, new 19-inch alloy wheel designs, and a rear diffuser.
Inside, the Model Y seems to have an aversion to physical buttons and switches. The only physical controls are a signal stalk on the steering column, two buttons on the steering wheel and buttons to open the doors.

To put the Model Y into gear or adjust any settings like climate control, you’ll need to use the 15.4-inch central touchscreen display. But don’t worry, rear passengers haven’t been forgotten – they now have their own 8-inch touchscreen mounted on the centre console.
Tesla did not provide any official battery pack, charging, or horsepower information for the new Tesla Model Y. We only know that the base Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive has a 0-100 km/h time of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h. Range is WLTP-rated at 466 km.
The all-wheel-drive variant offers 551 km (WLTP) and completes the century sprint in 4.3 seconds, although this is only achievable in the “Launch Series” Long Range variant via ‘Acceleration Boost’. Top speed is also 201 km/h. When it comes to charging, the Tesla Model Y can regain 266 km of range in 15 minutes using Tesla Superchargers.
As standard, the Tesla Model Y is equipped with basic Autopilot features. If you want more safety features, you can opt for the Enhanced Autopilot at RM16,000, or if you want to be chauffeured around by your own car, there’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) Capability at RM32,000. But do note that FSD is not currently available in Malaysia, so you’ll be paying for access to this feature once it’s available locally.
