Mercedes-Benz Malaysia partners with hotels, golf clubs to expand EV charging network

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has announced several new collaborations with hotels, golf courses, and charge point operators (CPOs), through the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU), in its effort to expand its electric vehicles (EV) charging network in the country.

These locations include Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang and Marriott Hotel in Penang, The RuMa Hotel & Residences and Saujana Golf &
Country Club in Kuala Lumpur, as well as the Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas in Johor. CPO partners meanwhile include EV Connection (JomCharge), ChargEV, and Gentari.

The new partnerships are part of MBM’s new three-pronged approach to EV charging: Charge@Home (wallbox installation for private residences), Charge@Retail (EV charging facilities at retail outlets), and Charge@Public (branded charging stations at partner hotels, resorts, and golf courses).

Aside from just providing charging solutions, the partnerships will also offer MBM’s customers a wide range of further privileges at these locations, simply by showing their Mercedes-Benz Card or App upon check-in.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony recently, MBM CEO and President, Amanda Zhang, said, “By seamlessly integrating electric mobility into luxury lifestyle experiences, we are redefining the essence of being a Mercedes-Benz customer.

“Our long-term strategy is not only about making electric vehicle ownership more accessible but also to enhance every touchpoint of our customers’ journey through tailored solutions and meaningful partnerships that embody our commitment to sustainability and innovation.”

The company says that it is actively exploring potential collaborations with luxurious hotels, shopping malls, and golf courses to expand its portfolio of lifestyle offerings to its customers.
