Pre-sales for the Geely Galaxy E5 has officially started in China. Priced between RMB123,000 (approx. RM79,514) and RMB157,000 (approx. RM101,493), the all-electric SUV will make its official launch in August, with sales and deliveries to begin in that same month, according to a report by CarNewsChina.
Built on the brand’s GEEA 3.0 platform, the Geely Galaxy E5 features cell-to-body integration (CTB) and uses the Galaxy 11-in-1 intelligent electric motor. Offered in five configurations, all of them get the same powertrain, namely the front-mounted 160 kW (218 hp metric) electric motor, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.

The Geely Galaxy E5 is the brand’s first model to utilise its recently launched Aegis Short Blade battery. This battery is claimed to have a 1 million km shelf life, and can even survive rifle shots without catching on fire.
Two battery capacities are offered with the Geely Galaxy E5, namely a 49.52 kWh and a 60.22 kWh unit. These batteries give the all-electric SUV CLTC-rated ranges of 440 km and 530 km respectively.

First made its global debut at Beijing Motor Show 2024, the Geely Galaxy E5 measures 4,615 mm in length, 1,901 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, and is underpinned by a 2,750 mm long wheelbase. This makes it about the same size as the Honda CR-V.
The Geely Galaxy E5 is rumoured to be the donor car for Proton’s very first all-electric model, which could be known as the e.MAS7. Just less than a month ago, Proton launched its EV subbrand, known as e.MAS, and has appointed its first batch of dealerships. Set to make its launch by the end of this year, Proton’s first EV could also make history as Malaysia’s first local brand EV.
