Following the launch of the fully-electric G60E BMW i5, the 2024 BMW 520i MHEV (G60) has now landed in Malaysia with an estimated price tag of RM340,000. Being the G60 means that we finally get an all-new version of the BMW 5 Series in Malaysia to replace the G30. Locally assembled (CKD) in Malaysia, it is available for viewing at Malaysia Autoshow 2024 happening from May 22nd to 26th at MAEPS, Serdang. Alongside the 520i at the show is the i5 M60 xDrive.
The G60 BMW 520i looks exactly identical to the BMW i5 on the outside with the exception of a fuel flap instead of a charging flap. To help you tell it apart from its fully-electric counterpart, the BMW 520i in Malaysia is also equipped with a different set of wheels which are the Style 934 wheels. The standard 520i also doesn’t get the M Sport treatment which means the bumpers are not as sporty and the window linings are in a chrome finish.

The G60 520i (48V MHEV) is powered by a 4-cylinder 2.0L turbocharged engine that makes 190 hp and 310 Nm at maximum. It also gets assistance from an electric motor that can put out 18 hp and 200 Nm. The 520i’s maximum system output is 208 hp and 330 Nm. The MHEV 520i also has an 8-speed automatic transmission and it is rear-wheel drive (RWD). It does 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 230 km/h.

Inside the 2024 G60 BMW 520i is also identical to its fully-electric counterpart. The 5 Series now gets the interaction bar, following in the footsteps of the 7 Series. There’s also the expected curved display with the BMW iDrive 8.5 operating system. Among the standard interior equipment of the 2024 BMW 520i are:
