We have seen the 2015 Subaru WRX STI posing in its legendary blue bodypaint and gold wheels in some leaked images. Now the all-new Subaru WRX STI has been officially unveiled at the recent 2014 North America International Auto Show at Detroit, US. So, no surprise from this AWD STI.

This new WRX STI looks too similar with the new Subaru WRX except for the trickery from in-house tuning company Subaru Tecnica International (STI). The standard WRX dropped the 2.5-liter turbocharged Boxer engine for a newer 2.0-liter that produces 268hp. The new WRX STI however continues with the 2.5-liter Boxer powerplant with maximum output of 305 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 393 Nm at 4,000 rpm.
If you would like everyone to know you are driving a STI even from miles away, you can start queuing for the STI Launch Edition which is limited to 1,000 units only. It comes with the legendary WR Blue paint, gold BBS 18-inch forged alloy wheels, huge rear wing, unique interior trim and a short-throw shift kit. That’s a proper WRX STI for sure.
The 2.5-liter turbocharged Boxer engine is mated only to a manly shift stick transmission. Automatic gearbox option will not be available for the STI unlike the standard WRX. No complaints there. The 6-speed manual transmission on this new STI has a sportier shift feel as compared to the current manual gearbox, as the gears now lock solidly in place at every gear change.
It is also said to performance better than before on the road thanks to its Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential version of the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.It allows you to select center differential control characteristics according to road conditions and driver’s preferences, to enhance torque transfer performance.
By the way, this 2015 WRX STI only comes in sedan, no hatchback this time.
